FOOD DIARY: WHAT I ATE IN 50+ YEARS: A LIVING FOOD BIOGRAPH
Eating and drinking are not just biological necessities—they are rituals, cultural acts, and deeply personal expressions of identity. Since 1975, I have meticulously documented every meal and drink I consume, transforming an everyday act into an artistic and analytical practice. This ongoing project, spanning 50 years, comprises over 14,000 A6 sheets and a 14-hour slide show, serving as both a personal archive and a universal reflection on human existence.
By digitizing this archive, I explore the intricate relationship between food, habit, and the passage of time. The documentation visualizes patterns of intake, revealing cycles of abundance, restriction, preference, and necessity. Through animated statistics, the project exposes how dietary choices evolve alongside life’s circumstances, offering a profound perspective on the rhythms of existence. It is a testament to the beauty and fragility of an ordinary life, rendered extraordinary through the absolute discipline of attention.
